Clear accessible design
Business cards are either supplied as standard 55x85mm single or double-sided cards or as 4-side folding cards (portrait or landscape). If the customer chooses the standard size, they’ll need braille labels for the reverse. Choosing the 4-side folding cards means that the card has a clear image in print on sides 1 and 2, and then the important information in braille on sides 3 and 4. It is not considered good practice to put braille over what is often already small print on standard business cards as this affects the legibility of the print to anyone sighted or partially sighted. Please be aware that braille takes roughly 4x the space of standard print (12pt) so the information you can include will be very limited. For example, on a four-line business card braille label you can often only get the e-mail address and telephone number. You may fit the person’s name or business too, but only if the details are short.

- Uncoated matt paper
- Maximum 300 gsm
- It is roughly thirteen characters across on four lines, but this depends on what is contracted and what isn’t.
Standard business cards
Standard business cards can be embossed on the reverse. Although we would advise that embossing over text could distort the text.

A folded business card gives you twice the amount of space for both print and braille.
